Family Scripture
“Every good and perfect gift is from above.”— James 1:17 (NIV)
Let’s Talk About It
The moments children remember most usually aren’t the expensive vacations or elaborate celebrations. They’re the simple traditions that made them feel loved and connected.
Traditions don’t have to cost a lot to leave a lasting impression. In fact, the most meaningful ones often cost very little.
This fall, choose one tradition your family can enjoy year after year.
Family movie night with homemade popcorn.
Friday pizza and board game night.
Pumpkin decorating instead of carving.
Nature walk to collect colorful leaves.
Backyard campfire with hot chocolate and stories.
Make sun-catchers together.
Create a playlist of favorite family tunes.

Growing Independence
Teach children to help prepare family traditions.
Toddlers: Stir pancake batter.
Children: Decorate cookies or help make popcorn.
Teenagers: Plan the family movie night or cook dinner one evening.

Chill time 4–8 hours
Servings 1
Ingredients
½ cup Old-fashioned rolled oats
½ cup Milk of choice
¼ cup Plain Greek yogurt (optional)
½ medium Apple, finely diced
1 tsp Chia seeds
1–2 tsp Maple syrup or honey
½ tsp Ground cinnamon
¼ tsp Vanilla extract
A pinch Pinch of salt
Optional toppings
Chopped walnuts or pecans
Extra apple slices
A sprinkle of cinnamon
Granola for crunch
A spoonful of almond or peanut butter
Instructions
1. Combine the ingredients
Add the oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt to a jar or bowl. Stir well.
2. Add the apple
Stir in the diced apple, making sure everything is evenly combined.
3. Refrigerate overnight
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, ideally overnight, until the oats are soft and
creamy.
4. Stir and serve
In the morning, stir well. Add a splash of milk if it's too thick, then finish with your favorite
toppings. Enjoy cold or warm it gently in the microwave.
Tips for the best overnight oats
For extra apple-pie flavor: Sauté the diced apple with a little cinnamon for 3–5 minutes, let it cool, then stir it in.
For extra creaminess: Use Greek yogurt and whole milk or your favorite creamy
plant-based milk.
For more protein: Add extra Greek yogurt or a spoonful of nut butter.
For meal prep: Make several jars at once and refrigerate for up to 3–4 days for best quality.
