Fall into His Word
As the crisp air settles in and the trees begin their breathtaking transformation, there is a
gentle invitation for us to do the same—to slow down, breathe deeply, and fall into the
presence of Jesus. Autumn has a way of reminding us that change is beautiful, that letting go makes room for new growth, and that the rhythm of life is better when anchored in Him. But let us be honest, finding stillness can feel impossible sometimes, especially as a single mother. Between drop-offs, laundry, work, and endless to-do lists, the idea of carving out “quiet time” with the Lord may feel more like a dream than reality. Yet, this is exactly why discipline matters, because time in prayer, worship, and the reading of God’s Word is not just one more task on our list. It is the fuel that carries us through.
A Daily Rhythm with Jesus
Setting aside time with Jesus does not always have to look like an hour-long Bible study in silence (though those moments are sweet).
Sometimes, it is the simple discipline of:

Whispering a prayer while making breakfast.
Playing worship music on the drive to school.
Reading one Psalm aloud with your child before bedtime.
Journaling a verse with your morning coffee.
When you bring your children into these habits, you are not just teaching them to love God’s Word, you are showing them what faith looks like in the everyday. They get to see prayer as natural as breathing, worship as joy-filled, and Scripture as the guiding light for life.
Fun Ways to Weave Faith into Fall
As the season shifts, so can our rhythms. Here are a few simple and joy-filled ways to
embrace this fall while keeping your heart rooted in Christ:

•Trail Mix of Truth: Create a fall trail mix with your kids—pumpkin seeds, dried
cranberries, pretzels, candy corn, and chocolate chips. As you mix, talk about how God weaves all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
•Soup & Scripture Nights: Pick one night a week to make a cozy soup (butternut
squash, chili, or chicken noodle), light a candle, and read a passage of Scripture
together before dinner.
•Hot Beverages & Prayer: Brew apple cider, hot cocoa, or spiced tea in the
evenings. As you sip, take turns thanking Jesus for one thing you noticed that
day—big or small.
•Fall Drives with Worship: Pile into the car, grab some cozy blankets, and take a
slow drive to admire the trees. Play worship music and let creation remind you of the
artistry of God (Psalm 19:1).
The Beauty of Surrender
Just like the trees release their leaves, this season invites us to let go of what no longer
serves us—fear, exhaustion, striving and hold fast to the unshakable love of Jesus. Prayer
and worship help us release our burdens. Scripture reminds us of His promises. And daily
discipline, woven into both our quiet moments and our family rhythms, keeps us steady
when life feels uncertain.
So, mama, this fall, do not just watch the leaves change. Fall into His Word. Fall into prayer. Fall into worship. And let your children fall into those rhythms with you, growing together in the beauty of Christ’s presence.
